Treatments with mandelic acid – safe choice in the summer!

Mandelic acid

Mandelic acid is a mild α-hydroxy acid belonging to the group of AHA (Alpha Hydroxy Acid) acids, the so-called fruit acids. It occurs naturally in nature, it is obtained during hydrolysis from the extract of bitter almonds, cherry seeds and peach.

It has a large molecule that gradually penetrates deep into the skin, thanks to which it works more gently and slower without irritating the skin. It dissolves in water, ethanol and ether. It is often used to prepare the skin before other treatments or to strengthen other chemical peels or cleansing treatments with the use of apparatus. After peeling with mandelic acid, the connections of the epidermis cells with intercellular cement are loosened, thanks to which it is gently exfoliated and the active ingredients are better absorbed.

Don’t be afraid of mandelic acid!
Mandelic acid is an acid that can be used all year round due to its lack of photosensitizing and phototoxic properties. It doesn’t irritate or cause reddening of the skin. However, if the skin of the person undergoing the treatment with mandelic acid is prone to discoloration, the client should be made aware of the importance of proper home care. We recommend using UniTone Neuro Cream, which, thanks to properly selected active ingredients, helps to eliminate discoloration, but also prevents the formation of new ones. It is also important to use a high photoprotector – Sun Protect SPF 50+, which will provide an additional layer of protection to the skin.

Who can apply mandelic acid?
Mandelic acid is the most popular acid – it will work well with all skin types. It is recommended for oily and mixed skins with extended sebaceous glands and seborrhea. Perfectly soothes skin lesions, i.e. papules, blackheads, cleanses impurities and brightens gray, tired skin. It is also recommended for the problem of discoloration of various genesis, especially in the case of post-inflammatory discoloration. It has anti-aging properties, stimulating the production of collagen, which makes the skin more elastic and firm. It will also work well with sensitive and capillary skin, thanks to its soothing effect and invisible exfoliation. Additionally, it refreshes dry and dehydrated skin by gently removing dead epidermis.
