Home-based skincare and cosmetic treatments – your skin needs both, actually.

A visit to a beauty salon is always associated with high expectations – we want results, and we want them fast… Many people treat professional, salon-based therapies only as the last resort solution, when the cosmetics they use just won’t deliver, or when there is a need for a rapid, “grand-occasion” reviving effect But, what next? Do we remember that all such actions have to be followed and supplemented by adequate skincare at home?

From the beauty salon to your bathroom

Home-based skincare and beauty salon treatments should always come as a package, an integrated, well-orchestrated beauty plan. A “one-timer” simply can’t and won’t ensure long-term results. Remember that the therapy’s success relies to a large extent on the systematic approach. The day-in-day-out skincare routine is what will allow to keep up the effects the cosmetologist helped us to achieve in a professional setting. Do not neglect these simple facts – your beauty professional at the salon will provide you with all the necessary information and guidance to choose the cosmetics best-suited to your skin’s everyday needs. Let me explain why this two-fold approach is really essential.

Build up your beauty one day at a time

Arkana’s cosmetic treatments utilize not only modern, state-of-the art cosmetic devices, but primarily formulas with high concentrations of active substances. They are responsible for the effectiveness of the therapy, allowing to obtain the desired outcome. The specialist equipment enhances their effect, helping deliver them to deepest layers of the skin. But the same active ingredients may be found in Arkana’s cosmetic products specially designed for daily home-based skincare routine, that will provide the skin with valuable nutrients, as well as lifting and hydrating agents.

So, the salon treatment is the “foundation” of our daily skincare routine, if you like, whereas the cosmetics we then use at home are the further elements or “bricks” of the whole “structure” we aim to build. The foundation alone, or just the other elements, when not laid on the solid foundation, will not  allow us to revive the skin to its core and ensure the right conditions to keep its youthful and healthy appearance.

Make conscious choices – always read the cosmetic product’s content list

How to use the best cosmetics for home-based skincare?

Obviously, the first factor that needs to be considered is your skin type. Arkana’s NATI skin analyzer (available at Arkana’s salons. For a comprehensive list, go to: arkana.pl/gabinety) can really be a great help. It is a computer-aided device that quickly (15 minutes) and accurately will determine your skin’s condition and needs. When you already know the accurate specifics of your skin, it is time to look for the right beauty products. Your cosmetologist is sure to confirm that it is the product’s content that is king. Use your cosmetologist’s advice, and read the labels, it is as simple as that.

And why? Think cream content, for instance. It is the food your skin “eats” every day. I’m sure you want your skin’s diet to be rich in only friendly substances, that will nourish, protect and regenerate. SLS-containing soaps, as well as parabens and silicones are always bad news, in any product. They irritate the skin and may even cause more serious adverse effects. Any cosmetic product that has those on its content list is a no-go, make sure of that.

Another important piece of information to be found on the product’s content list is the actual concentration of active substances. The higher – the better. It is a good idea to compare various seemingly similar formulas (with similar content). Also, the order in which INCI (the International Nomenclature of Cosmetic Ingredients) names are listed tells you a little something.  Those that come top of the list are included in the greatest quantity, whereas the ones at the bottom –  the smallest. Pay attention to this valuable information too.

All in all, the golden rule for spectacular effects is combining salon-based treatments with adequate daily skincare. This second step in particular, the small daily habits, the application of products selected with the help of your cosmetologist, will allow you to achieve the effects you desire and speedier regeneration after the treatment as such, as well as make sure you feel truly pampered.
